Dr. Neal Gorrin
Hair Restoration Surgeon
San Carlos, CA
"The best hair restoration experience.....every time."
Dr. Neal Gorrin, MD and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), has over 20 years experience as a general surgeon, bariatric surgeon and, most recently, as a cosmetic surgeon specializing in hair transplant surgery. After a career which has included performing thousands of elective and emergency surgeries, Dr. Gorrin now concentrates only on hair restoration. He brings all of his skill as a surgeon, along with his extensive surgical experience to his hair transplant practice.
"I absolutely love the practice of hair restoration surgery," according to Dr. Gorrin. "I take pride in giving each patient my undivided attention. My personal goal is that each of my patients has the best possible experience and that I exceed their expectations." Dr. Gorrin's years as a general surgeon have taught him how to make patients comfortable and also how to perform surgery with the least amount of pain, swelling or risk.
Because of his 20+ years of surgical experience, Dr. Gorrin is uniquely qualified to be your hair restoration surgeon. In 2008, he completed a prestigious fellowship in hair transplant surgery in La Jolla, California, under the direction of Dr. Mel Meyer, MD. Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Gorrin practiced in San Francisco and operated on hundreds of happy hair restoration patients. Having a great outcome every time is part of the reason Dr. Gorrin is gratified to be performing this procedure.
Dr. Gorrin was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. "As a child I was asthmatic and required a good deal of medical attention. This sparked an interest in the medical profession, which has endured throughout my adult life," he says.
Dr. Gorrin attended the University of California at San Diego and graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He went on to attend medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. While at Creighton he became fascinated with the profession of General Surgery, due to the variety of diseases that could be rapidly cured with a well planned and executed operation. Upon graduation Dr. Gorrin was inducted into the Honor Medical Society AOA. This award is given to the top 5 students in each medical school class. Dr. Gorrin's class ranking was high enough to be accepted into a prestigious surgery training program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Gorrin spent the next 5 years honing his craft as a Surgery Resident at Harbor-UCLA. This training is very competitive, and more than half of the surgeons in training are cut from the program. In addition, the hospital serves as the county hospital for the Southside of L.A. and receives all of the severe emergencies and trauma for many surrounding areas. Dr. Gorrin thrived in this hectic environment and was awarded the honor of Chief Resident in General Surgery during his fifth year of training.
Following the rigors of his Surgery Residency, Dr. Gorrin moved to San Francisco to become an Attending Surgeon at Kaiser South San Francisco. He spent the next 17 years there, performing surgery on and caring for a multitude of critically ill patients, and performed thousands of elective and emergency procedures. In addition, Dr. Gorrin served in many leadership roles at Kaiser, including Assistant Chief of Surgery, Chief of Bariatric (Weight-Loss) Surgery for all of Northern California, and local liaison to the Breast Cancer Task Force.
In 2006, Dr. Gorrin was recruited to Eugene, Oregon to build a regional Surgical Weight Loss Program. The result is the Oregon Bariatric Center, which is the largest program of its kind in Oregon outside of Portland. Dr. Gorrin served as Medical Director of the Program and built it into a recognized Center of Excellence. In addition he was an active medical politician, testifying before the Oregon Health Resources Committee in order to get weight loss surgery benefits for the state's Medicaid population.
Dr. Gorrin returned to the Bay Area in 2008 and changed his surgical focus to cosmetic surgery, specifically hair restoration surgery. As Dr. Gorrin says, "I look forward to taking care of you because the joy of my work is making patients happy. The procedure is important, but not as important as you and your satisfaction."
Experience, expertise, caring and qualified. Dr. Neal Gorrin, MD FACS. Have the best hair restoration experience possible.
